Scaffolding project
Year: 2002
Material: timber installation
Size: variable in between 4,5m high, 2m wide, 1,35 deep

concept

The scaffolding is a sculpture built out of small parts and is variable in height, width and therefore in interpretation. My intention was to invite cultural practitioners to collaborate and develop concepts for application and location. After the first project, a workshop at the art school in Nykarleby, Finland, the scaffolding broke down.

Scaffolding workshop (carried out at the art school in Nykarleby, Finland, 2002)
The workshop focused on interdisciplairy visual practices. Starting point was an ‘open object’ rather than a ‘closed subject’ and students were invited to conceptualize location and application. Results ranged from abstract spatial investigations, public space interventions to educational application.
